The 1980's saw the relaunch of Bentley, one of the cornerstones of Rolls-Royce's Marketing strategy of the time. In order to spur further interest a name with historic value, 'Continental', was chosen to grace the two-door model previously known as the Corniche, as was its Rolls-Royce equivalent. In the 13 years before the relaunch of the Continental name, only 77 Bentley Corniches were sold. In the 11 years following the rebrand 421 Continentals were sold.

The First Corniche saw the light of day in 1971 as a refreshed version of the HJ Mulliner, Park Wards variant of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series Saloons. In Corniche form the Rolls-Royce 6.7L V8 powerplant developed 10% more power than in standard trim and would push the car on to a top speed in excess of 120mph.

The example we have for sale was delivered new in 1985 to Gaulds of Glasgow and was delivered new in the Georgian Silver / Dark Blue Hood over Grey and Dark Blue interior that the car is seen in today. Its very recently undergone a complete service at Joe Macari Classics  and with just over 11,000 miles this car is one of the finest examples of the very rare carburetted versions on market today!
